School Fee Saving Tips
Smart strategies for Nigerian parents
📅 Pay annually if you can. Most schools offer 5–15% discount for full-year upfront payment. On ₦600,000/year that's ₦30,000–₦90,000 saved.
🏦 Open a dedicated education account. Put school fee money in a separate high-yield savings account or money market fund. Never mix with household funds.
📈 Start a school fee investment fund. For babies and toddlers — invest monthly in T-bills or FDs. By age 5, you could have 3–5 years of fees already saved.
🤝 Negotiate with the school. Schools often quietly offer payment plans, sibling discounts (5–10%), or extended payment terms — especially loyal parents.
🎯 Apply for scholarships early. Many schools offer merit-based fee waivers — especially for top WAEC/JAMB students. Check Lagos State, Access Bank and GTBank scholarship schemes.
